IUP Showcase 2010?

I read this on another site and was wondering if the dates for this one will be moved back? If I am reading it correctly, coaches won't be allowed to attend? Please advise. Will the dates be moved back? Will it still happen with a new coach at IUP?

This was posted about the Lady Lasers tournament which is the same weekend.

Coaches and Parents,

Late last week, we received word that the NCAA has moved their Drop-Dead Period? for Division 1 back by 7 days for 2010 (to June 10, 2010). This change means that Division 1 coaches would not have been able to attend our showcase on the originally planned dates as they would still be in season with their teams. The prospect of not having Division 1 coaches attend our premier tournament has made us chose to move back the dates of our tournament. This change will ensure that all of the talent will get the appropriate attention from all divisions of college softball.

Saint Francis University Softball Clinic

LORETTO, PA (Nov. 12, 2009) - The Saint Francis University Softball program will host a fundamental skills clinic for youth on Sunday, Nov. 22, 2009. The clinic will be run by head coach Sabrina Lane and the Red Flash coaching staff, as well as current members of the softball team.

The Saint Francis softball fundamental skills clinic is designed for young ladies ages 8-13 (morning sessions) and for ages 14-18, (afternoon sessions). The clinic is scheduled for Nov. 22 at the Maurice Stokes Athletics Center Auxiliary Gymnasium on the Saint Francis University Campus.

Three sessions will be offered for each age group. Ages 8-13, 8:00-9:30am-Hitting, 9:30-11:00am-Fielding and 11:00-12:30pm-Pitching.

For Ages 14-18, 1:00-2:30pm-Hitting, 2:30-4:00pm-Fielding and 4:00-5:30pm-Pitching. Participants may sign up for one, two or all three sessions. Cost for the clinic is $20 per session, (see registration flyers for more information).

Please arrive 15-30 minutes prior to the start of the clinic to check in with registration personnel. Participants should be prepared for participation and wear athletic clothing and bring their fielders gloves, tennis shoes and catchers should bring their own equipment.

The Saint Francis University Softball Clinic is open to any young lady between the ages of 8 and 18. However, space is limited, so register early. Letter of intent day on Wednesday

Signing day is tomorrow and I haven't seen much on here about it. So who is going where?

Congrats to Cassie Show who will be attending Robert Morris University on a softball scholarship. I have had the true privilege of coaching Cassie going on 7 years now and she truly has worked extremely hard through the years and has put it all on the line over the years in the pursuit of fulfilling her dream.   She has also become like a daughter to me, I can't wait to watch you in college, I am extremely happy for you, and also very proud of you.

Also, congrats to the two other outstanding players that will be signing from Western PA tomorrow as well.   Maybe WPIAL dad can announce those two players, I don't want to get anyone in trouble by saying who they are, until they are officially signed.

Coach Coleman has done an outstanding job at keeping the top talent in the WPIAL right here in are back yards to watch them play for their college careers.     Go Colonials!

Any word on other players that will be signing tomorrow?    Congrats to them as well, and best of luck in college.

Softball Clinic at Waynesburg University

WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Oct. 16) The Waynesburg University womens softball team will hold an instructional clinic on Saturday, Nov. 14, at the Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse.

The clinic runs from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with registration beginning at 9:30 a.m. The event will be broken down into three different sessions. From 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., batting and fielding will be the focus of the instructors and will be considered sessions one and two. Session three will run from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., with the focus shifting to pitching.

Players of all different skill levels from high school age and younger are welcome.

The cost for sessions one and two is $30 and session three costs $25. If a participant signs up for all three sessions, the cost is $45. Regardless off what sessions they decide to attend, all participants receive a free t-shirt.

Outdoor Showcase Tournaments

We are looking to schedule at least a couple outdoor showcases for our 16U team. The IUP dates are known now, and I have been scouring the web for other tournaments and dates.

I am looking for your input on where you all like to go, and if you know of any dates that have been scheduled for 2010. I've heard good and bad about Chambersburg, but don't know the dates. I know of a couple showcases that are scheduled in OH as well. Basically, we want to stay within a radius that would include neighboring states to PA.

I would appreciate your thoughts.
